My name is Don Welch. I have been a Christian for 47 years. I was involved in the Jesus Movement in the early 70’s. It has been a remarkable journey in Christ. I attended and graduated from Great Lakes Christian College (1972-1977) with a major in New Testament and minors in Old Testament and Ancient Languages. I returned to my home church and served as the Education Minister, while working at my family’s tourism business. We ran tour boats through the Soo Locks in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. During the winter months in Michigan, I worked on my master’s degree from Trinity Theological Seminary but never finished. I met and married my wife Ruth in 1982. In 1996, we answered God’s call and pastored a small church in Stuart, Florida. The church grew from twenty to one hundred seventy-five. The Lord led me from there to the public school system. I have been teaching high school for fifteen years. We are involved at Calvary Chapel Palm City, Florida. Our Youth Minister, a CCU staff member, encouraged me to finish up my master’s work. My family fully supported the idea. I have been excited to renew my mind, refresh my spirit, and study God’s Word. CCU is challenging, with great courses and professors. I am thrilled to be able to finish my Masters after 36 years. I would encourage any and every one to invest their lives in God’s Word and Spiritual Skills, through the courses offered at Calvary Chapel University.
