Jesus goes home…”from there to His own country.” He brings the Word and everyone is “astonished, saying Where did this man get these things?”
Then they remind themselves of his family, and because they were familiar with Him they “were offended at Him.”
Remember this guys…you can’t go back, (Apologies to Bob Jovi). “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house.”
When God’s call hits you…there is no going back…like Jesus you may try but you are ruined by the Gospel…notice not ONE person followed Jesus here…”and He marveled because of their unbelief.”
Familiarity breeds contempt and if you are bold, sharing the Lord’s wisdom in your company, ministry or other relationships (even with Christians) and you seem to get very little traction, remember people will listen to an “expert” (defined as someone at least 30 minutes away????) but not you!
Welcome to “a prophet is not without honor…”. What should you and I do?
Simply follow the Spirit…speak when He says speak, quiet when He says “shushhhhh”, bold when He requires boldness and tenderness and humility wrapped in love in all we do…
Let the fruit and consequences of what God is asking you to do be His responsibility. Be encouraged that you are not alone when others do not appreciate you…happened to Jesus, gonna happen to us????????
