Mark 7:1-23

Wash your hands!!!????????‍♂️????????????????

Seriously, the Pharisees (separated one’s – a prideful name to be sure), developed the Mishna or “old Torah”, a 65 page book of extra biblical written laws designs initially to help people walk with God.  Later as is always the case, the leaders began to use it as a sledgehammer to control the people.  Jesus comes on the scene to set people free.

In your life and mine, do we live in weird and unnecessary bondage?

The Pharisees did have many good and useful hints at living well, like cleanliness, which they got from God.  Washing hands, pots, pans, etc does reduce disease and they did this well before the science discovered the benefits.

Yet, these “leaders” abused the people for their own gain:
“This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me and in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.”

Ok, so we don’t need to make stuff up…so our life appears to us or others to be on track…instead let’s walk in the grace and freedom Jesus bought so freely for us with His blood.

No more rules, no more “traditions”, no more made up stuff that others put on you and me.  The commandments are clear now in the New Covenant:

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind and soul and your neighbor as yourself.”

Remember, if you are not walking in freedom it is a simple matter to correct…just read, remember and receive…

“Where Christ is there is Liberty, (Freedom).

…oh, do please wash your hands!!????
