Jesus is walking with the disciples and here is what they are doing:
“But they kept silent…For on the road they had disputed among themselves who would be the greatest.”
Pride eventually embarrasses us…our own pride silences us…
Jesus immediately gives them the remedy:
“If anyone desires to be first, he shall be last of all and Servant of all.”
Then John complains about how another person is doing ministry:
“Teacher we saw someone who does not follow us casting out demons in Your name and we forbade him because he does not follow us.”
Jesus said; “do not forbid him…”
Wow, gut check time…who in the overall body of Christ am I super critical of? Is it the reformed folks? Super charismatic crew? The Calvary down the street or likely the Methodists?
God’s ways are not our ways. Though we need to be alert to doctrinal errors, we can rejoice in non-essential and preferential differences within the body of Christ, right?
He ends this chapter by saying: “Have salt in yourselves, and have peace with one another.”
In marriages, relationships and organizations we “season” (salt) each other. Let’s also choose to be at Peace with one another too.
