James 5:13-20

“Is anyone among you suffering?  Let him pray…is anyone among you sick?  Let him call the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.  And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up.”

I love a quote attributed to Pastor Chuck Smith when asked if God still healed today and if when he (Chuck) prayed for people they got healed.  His response was, “I pray for healing for people all the time, sometimes God heals them and sometimes God doesn’t.”

I love the simplicity of this because for some reason we can be afraid to even ask for others in our church body to pray for our healing.  Today, let’s go boldly to the throne of grace and ask God to heal us, heal YOU, and those you love.

Like Jonathan and his armor bearer who went up against the enemies of Israel against overwhelming odds and said, “who knows perhaps the Lord will help us.”

Today, perhaps the “prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up.”

So, resurrection weekend, let’s walk in a new boldness.  Let’s trust God to do the impossible in our lives.  Let’s simply ASK God to help us, heal us, perfect and guide us.  Why not?

Three simple applications:

1. Are you saved because this healing is for believers in Christ?  We are told to “call for the elders.”  If you want to be saved simply pray:

“Jesus, remember me today, forgive me of my sins, please be my Savior.”

That is even more than the thief on the cross prayed but if you ask God in sincerity you are saved????????????????

2. If you need healing or want to pray specifically for healing you can ask God yourself.  You can find another Christian friend and ask them to pray with you.  If you have almost any kind of oil you can anoint one another since in the new covenant all Christians are a royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9).

If you want to private message me your confidential prayer request then I will pray with you as well.  We are expecting RESURRECTION POWER!

3. DO IT!! Pray for yourself, someone else, be open to seeing God do an intimate and powerful healing in your life, through your life and for your life.  Let’s believe…remember this book…James, was written by Jesus half brother…think about what he saw and what he is trying to tell you today by the power of the Holy Spirit!
