“Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you be like him. Answer a fool according to his folly lest he be wise in his own eyes.”
Does this passage seem contradictory to you? First, we are told to NOT answer a fool, then we are told TO answer a fool. Which one is it? It seems double minded right?
How about this answer:
“For it is not by might, not by power but by My Spirit, says the Lord.”
Perhaps, every situation will be different (they are), and each circumstance requires us to rely on the moment by moment wisdom of God through the Holy Spirit to be able to discern what to do.
So, today as we walk out our life in Christ, consider looking at each situation in light of prayer, listening to God’s still small voice, heeding those simple, way down deep promptings in your spirit, and let the Holy Spirit direct you with a spouse, child, friend, boss, neighbor. The solution today may not be the solution you used last time. In fact in the work of the Spirit, it will likely be very different.
Jesus healed and moved very differently each time he met people. Remember everyone wanted Him to avoid Matthew and the tax collectors (sounds like a garage band name), and sinners but Jesus went in and ate with them. He literally hung with the oppressors of the people. He answered a fool by joining them.
This week, be ready for God to bring a potentially contradictory matter into your life that will require you to have to lean on the His Spirit. When you do, great fruit will result.????
