“So it was when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned for many days: I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven.”
There are times in your life where you are faithful. In fact, you could remain exactly where you are because of your faithfulness. Then one day you hear news from a far land, YOUR home, about YOUR people and your heart weeps for their condition. You literally have to sit down and cry over their plight because your passion for them is so strong!
This is what happened to Nehemiah. He was set for life. All he had to do was run the food and wine business for the King and ensure no one tried to poison the King. He had great access and authority and favor with the King. He was set for life…until!
He heard that in his home town and with his hometown people, that great trauma had occurred, “the wall of Jerusalem is also broken down and its gates are burned with fire.”
In one instant Nehemiah’s life changed. His perspective changed. His plans changed. Then, as he answered God’s call on his life, he would change. In each of our lives there is a divine burden. It has been placed in your heart by God. When the time is right, He will alert you to your divine destiny. It is only for you. It awaits you. It has been set aside by God for you. The people and the burden wait for you.
Do you sense the burden? If not, ask God. What is making you weep today? Perhaps it is your burden. What will cause you like Nehemiah to leave everything, comfort, prestige, place and position in life to follow your burden or call from God?
In one instant a simple word of hurt asking for help turned Nehemiah’s life on end. He went from running a kitchen and being close to the King to being used in the hands of THE KING and took his place leading HIS PEOPLE that God had given him a burden for.
Ask God today for your burden. It will lead you towards your divine destiny!
