1 Thess 5:23-24
“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely: and may your whole spirit, soul and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.  He who calls you is faithful, who will also do it.”

Peace is the single greatest thing everyone in the world is seeking.  There is only one way to have a “peace that surpasses all understanding,” and that is to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  Do you?

Sanctifying simply means we are becoming more like Jesus!  Kinder, more hopeful, obedient to His still small voice, prayerful, joyful and the like.  He wants to make us more like Him…completely.  We never stop growing and being molded as Christians.

The idea of Spirit, soul and mind reminds us of the Trinity with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Our mind in Greek is our Psyche.  Our body is Soma.  The Spirit is Pneuma.

The Psyche or our mind is where thoughts, ideas and vision come from.  It directs us and sets in motion our decisions about our lives and choices we make.

Our body or Soma responds to what we think.  When people have psychosomatic problems or larger ongoing health issues they often come from a mind/body relationship that is not healthy due to stress, bitterness, anger, hopelessness and worse.  We are told our body or Soma is the temple of the living God.  As such, do we care for our bodies through solid diet, regular exercise, prayer and meditation on God’s word, regular Church fellowship and short accounts with people?

The Pneuma or the Spirit in our lives is the place where the Holy Spirit dwells.  He provides the breath of life and a sort of pneumatic jolt or shot of air into our otherwise dead and decaying lives. More importantly, for the Christian, the Pneuma of life, is in fact the third person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit living inside of you.  Powerful!!

Finally, whatever you are doing or going through, know this, if God has called you to something, “He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.”

God will take you from here to there.  God set you up, God will provide. God will bless.  God will be God in your life and God will be faithful to do all He has called you to do as you rely on His Holy Spirit in you today and beyond!
