“What can I do to help you?  Elisha asked.  Tell me, what do you have in the house?”  2 Kings 4:2

Here a woman whose husband worked with Elisha as a prophet dies, and the woman is facing crushing debt and the potential loss of her sons to slavery to pay the debt which will leave her homeless and without an inheritance and hopeless.

Do you ever feel that way?

Enter the prophet Elisha who, when he was asked by Elijah what can I do for you before I die, asked specifically for a double portion of Elijah’s anointing.

When God asked us “What do you want me to do for you? Do you have a ready answer?  Solomon, Esther, Elisha, Blind Bart and others were asked this, and now you and I are as well.

The woman simply tells Elisha that she has “nothing but a flask of olive oil.”  Perhaps you are so tired, burned out, hurt or lost and all you can focus on is the negative situations your life.  The odds may seem so overwhelming that all you see is a “small flask of oil.”

Don’t worry, God sees that last bit of oil, energy, faith, hope in your cupboard as His path of deliverance for you!

Elisha tells the woman (you have to do some work here), go borrow empty jars from your neighbors.  Then go into your house, shut the door and start to pour the oil.

Couple of things to note here.  Elisha never touches anything.  This entire miracle is a matter of perspective.  The woman had all she needed for the miracle to happen right in front of her, (oil, neighbors, Faith to ask for jars, ability to pour).  Perhaps for you today, everything you need for your miracle is in front of you?

They run out of jars and then the oil runs out.  They collect enough oil to pay off all debts and the woman and her boys are radically blessed, “Now sell the olive oil and pay your debts, and there will be enough money left over to support you and your sons.”

The family inheritance is full, retirement is no longer an issue and in this case, everyone lived happily ever after!

The insane difficulty you are facing is one miracle away from being solved.  Ask God!  When he turns around and says to you, “what do you want me to do for you?”  Be ready to answer.  Then, watch Him use what is already in front of YOU to solve…for good…what has been terrifying you and enjoy Him turning “what the enemy meant for evil to good,” in your life!
